Ever had a book that made you so excited to read?
Ever had a book make you question yourself and your insanity?
Ever had a book give you so much chills that you feel it in your bones?
Ever had a book that made your heart pump and stop at the same time?
GRIT Sector 1: The Uprising was a book that made me feel all of these things. I was just in awe while reading it. I may hat times that I did not want the book to finish because it was so good. The Uprising was dark, delicious, sensual, thrilling and so addictive that I could not take my eyes away from the book. Rebecca Sherwin totally out did herself. She just keeps getting better.
The Uprising is the second installment in the GRIT series. It is not a standalone. You must read GRIT Sector 1: Elias. It follows the lives of Trixie and Elias as they rule GRIT. I was blown away by the events in this book. I thought the first book was explosive but nope The Uprising upstaged it. The Uprising is not for the fainthearted. It contains scenes that will make you cringe or cover your hearts but for a person like me, I gravitated towards it because the story was so unique and captivating. The Uprising gave me so much chills and goosebumps all over my body that I found myself shivering by the sheer excitement. Rebecca gave us everything in The Uprising. She gave me emotion. She gave me drama. She gave me a dose of darkness that had me delirious and thrilled. She gave us so much angst that it was bleeding out in the pages and touching my soul. All I can do is bow down to her because she really outdid herself to give me a story that was uniquely and beautifully written. It was flawless, It was just pure dark perfection. I was so shocked by the writing of The Uprising because she gave us taboo fetishes that gave me so many shivers down my spine and I loved it. I craved it. She did not disappoint to give me a story that moves my inner dark soul. All I can say she gave a story that just screamed effortless.
"She was the fucking devil and she’d been sent to this earth to summon my demons."
Trixie Ashford Blackwood is one of those heroines that I just loved. She is one of those heroines who give a true dynamic to the story. I loved her strong side especially having to be strong in the role and responsibility she was thrust upon. I love her feisty side more and she was capable of handling herself. I could sense she was conflicted about who she was and we could see that there was a dark inside that wanted to break free. She was an equal to Elias and did not allow herself to be bulldozed by her husband Elias Blackwood.
"It was like his soul was in a dressing room, trying on different armours to see which one would protect him."
Elias Blackwood was a hero that had my heart pumping. He was brooding, dominant, controlled and just a true alpha male. He was sinister and dark but it was his love for Trixie that made me love him. I was also saddened because he had a duty that made him conflicted between his love for Trixie and his duty to his family. Sometimes he could surprise me because he had so many personalities that added a dynamic to his character. His thoughts and his whole being was testing him and I loved getting to know more of him and who he was.
The Uprising is truly a story that had me on the edge of my seat. With The cliffhanger that had me looking for more and speechless, I know the next book, Revolution is going to be nail biting explosive. I can't wait.
Title: Spiralling Skywards #1: Falling
Author: Lesley Jones
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Rating: 5 stars
I love Lesley Jones books. I just love reading her books because she is one of the authors who combines wit, angst, drama, heat and love to bring out an effortless masterpiece. She is that brilliant author who is able to bring us a story that we can escape to and just want to live in and totally experience. Spiralling Skywards: Falling is a totally a wonderful book experience that literally blew my mind. It was an amazing read that got my heart pumping and so excited.
Spiralling Skywards: Falling is about Liam and Sarah who meet and form an instant spark. They get to know each other and start to develop feelings for each other. Then things start to go wrong. I love reading this book. Of course I am sucker for romances that truly touch my heart and Spiralling Skywards touched my heart. I loved that there was heart and wit in this story that made me become so glued to the book. My eyes were totally glued to this book. Lesley Jones is a genius when it comes to writing a book with so much angst that totally tears my heart in two. She has a way of bringing so much emotion in a story that those emotions start to creep inside your mind, heart, and soul. Spiralling Skywards: Falling totally did not disappoint with the feels. You know when you are on a rollercoaster and it has so much twists and turns and all you have to do is hold on for dear life. Well, Spiralling Skywards: Falling had twists and turns that truly had my heart exploding that I had to hold on to my heart before it combusted with so much tension and emotion. I was actually going insane because I was so into the book that everything that was happening in the book, I was becoming so vocal like a deranged fool. And that's so wonderful about a book when it evokes emotion, tension, drama and angst. It is just beautiful and like I always say, it is gold in my eyes. Lesley Jones nailed it. II was so surprised with sexual tension in the book. Man, the sex scenes were so hot and totally did not overwhelm. They were placed at convenient places and I commend the author for that. I got more story. What was even more exciting was the wit. I laughed. I liked that there was angst but there were still parts that were light and of course I now know few more British and Australian slang. LOL. I might start saying them.
I loved the characters in this book. Wow. Liam and Sarah are a couple that were so believable. Their chemistry was so genuine. But what shines was their individuality that added an edge and a unique dynamic to the story. I enjoyed that. I loved Sarah. Her insecurities and weakness really tore my heart and I could relate to her because we all had insecurities that plagued our minds. However they were some times when I felt that she was too emotional and she needed to lighten up a bit but I loved how loving and caring she was to people close to her. A typical good girl persona. Liam was actually someone who I loved more because of his development in terms of relationships and letting someone in. I loved that he was protective and he was fighter willing to fight for the person he loves. It made him a very likable character in my eyes.
Overall, Spiralling Skywards: Falling was an emotional book that had a meaningful story that was relatable and also lovable. I can't wait for book 2 because with Lesley Jones, I know something major is going go down lol.
Title: This Isn't Over, Baby
Author: K. Webster
Genre: Dark Romance
Type: Series. War and Peace series, Book 3
Rating: 5 stars
“This isn’t over, baby,” I tell her and reach over to squeeze her hand. “This is the start of something we had stolen from us. Nobody can take that away from us now.”
I am shocked and so in awe of this book. It took me a while to write this review. I had to really think of what to say about this because honestly no amount words can do justice to this book. All I know that K. Webster is a fucking BOSS when it comes to dark. She is the Queen of all things twisty and suspenseful and she brings books that are just masterpieces. This Isn't Over, Baby is a dark masterpiece that makes you heart pump and you blood quicken. It is just that damn good.
"No, Gabe looks like he could be Hades. Splattered with the blood of his enemies. Evil and sinister, yet powerful and protective. Knows what he wants and destroys all those in his path."
This Isn't Over, Baby is the story about Gabe. We all know Gabe from This is War, Baby and This is Love, Baby and you have to read to them before reading This isn't Over, Baby. This book we get to delve deeper into his past and get to understand him more. I was truly happy that K. Webster was able to write this book because I got to feel sorry for Gabe. Lol, I know I was one of those people who hated Gabe with a passion but wow K, Webster gave me a story that had me falling in love with him. Funny Huh but its the power of K. Webster. She has a way luring people into her dark and crazy books. She has a way of making her readers love the darkest villains in writing. Hey, villains deserve some love. Obviously. K. Webster made it her mission to give us a book that is memorable and wow, it was sure memorable. There were certain moments that made my jaw drop and moments that were so crazy that I could not believe. I love that I was kept guessing throughout the book. There was just something new and unique. What was so awesome was that you could detect K. Webster signature writing. That writing that makes you shiver. That writing that shocks you to the core. That writing that has you speechless. And that is beauty of her writing. It is euphoric. It is deadly to the senses. It is just simply magical.
I am trying to give a spoiler free review because the whole book is just dripping with so much information. You have to read this book now. This isn't Over, Baby is not a love story nor is it a book about unicorns or people smiling or people dancing with love on their faces. Nah, this book is crazy, sinister, dark, crazy again and downright sinful. It is dirty. It is a wild ride that you do not want to come off. It is addictively dark. All I can do is bow down to K. Webster.
This isn't Over, Baby was clearly a fantastic dark tale that has become one of my favourite books of 2016. Read it if you dare.
Title: Corrupted Hearts
Author: Julian Napier
Genre: Dark Romance/Suspense
Release Date: September 5th
Rating: 4 stars
Ever had a book so emotional that you feel the emotions? Ever had a book make you scream so loud that you almost wake the neighbours? Ever had a book that completely make you go insane? Ever had a book make you lose your senses? Well, let me tell you Corrupted Hearts made me feel all these kinds of books. Never had a book that made me want to personally curse the author's name no matter how brilliant the book is and Corrupted Hearts was truly a brilliant book. I mean, it was crawling with so much dark elements to point that I was shivering. Corrupted Hearts is not for the faint hearted nor is it for people with a weak heart because it will have your heart pumping and your blood flowing with the sheer amount of suspense and darkness.
Wow, Corrupted Hearts was truly a wild ride. Hahaha, well for me it was a wild ride that had me shocked but also had me glued to the book. There were elements that will have a normal person cringe but to me it was beautiful. Hey, I love dark. Corrupted Hearts was a beautiful dark tale that had me on the edge of my feet. for a debut book by Julian Napier, I was so surprised because this book was well written and the story flowed. From the dialogue to the plot itself, Julian Napier weaved a story that made the reader go on a emotional and thrilling journey. I was so mesmerized. He came up with a story that was different and unique and yet take us on a journey. That is a sign of a great writer. I had my jaw dropping at some scenes and even had a point where I was left speechless because this book was just that damn good. This story was dripping with darkness and that was so addictive. It was clever and concise writing and I was so amazed.
The characters were so good. Each of the characters added an edge and dynamic to the story that made Corrupted Hearts such an enthralling story. I could see that the author took risks and I loved that he took risks in terms of his characters. Louise and Luks seem to be the main characters of the story and they were so addictive. I felt sorry for Louise but there were times that she was too emotional for me and her unbalance of emotions to handle the things she was going through made me want to slap her. Sad but true lol. Luke was another story. I could not get a good read and I know he was hiding something. To my astonishment, he was hiding something. Well, you have to read this book to find out.
Corrupted Hearts is a fast pacing, heart pumping and emotional dark tale that is addictive and thrilling. I cannot wait for the second book because I want my answers with that cliffhanger at the end.
This review page is for all my reviews where I post my honest reviews for all books I have read.
