"You freight trained me, baby. Trampled right over me, stealing my heart."
Wow, this was such an exciting book to read. I mean I do not get to read contemporary romances these days and sometimes when I do read them, I just can't help but love the stories. I guess it is just that I am a romantic at heart and they make a smile a lot. Freight Trained is one of those books that just put a smile on my face and make me sigh in pleasure. It is written by Sarah Curtis who I know writes awesome romances that you can't help but fall in love with and I also I am huge fan of because she delivers romances that make you smile but yet have a certain edge to it.
Abigail O'Neal a shy and awkward woman, is tired of being a substitute teacher so decides to move to Jasper Falls after getting a full time job as a teacher. She wants to come out of her shell hence the move. She meets Coleman Garrison a former rodeo star and a horse trainer. Sparks fly and she finds herself attracted to him. He becomes attracted but he is hiding a painful secret and thinks he is not good for her. Does she act on her attraction? Does Cole act on his attraction regardless of the painful secret he is hiding? I liked reading this book so much because it was so easy to read. It was not complex and just told the story without any confusion at all. This is my first cowboy story and I was so amazed at how much I enjoyed it. Freight Trained was not overly cheesy like you find in some romances. There was a certain edge to it which I enjoyed. I also liked the suspense of it that got me to the edge of my feet. It was actually a surprised that the author was able to pull of the suspense factor into the story without disturbing the whole plot to the story.
"So to answer your question, there is no you and me, we are now an us."
I totally loved the characters and the fact that the characters had awesome chemistry that was both believable and not forced was a true positive. Abigail was so shy and awkward and kind of felt sorry for her but I loved throughout the book, she was getting some confidence. I loved her transformation from shy to a confident, loving and strong woman. Cole truly surprised me as a character. He was so alpha. I even melted and thought myself that I wanted a guy like him. He was caring and I loved his overbearing dominant side. But what I loved more and what drew me in more was his vulnerable side and I really felt his pain. I wanted to hug him. It was so heartbreaking.
Overall, Freight Trained was such an awesome read. A perfect and lovely summer read that you will truly enjoy and fall in love with.
