Wow what a book. I am still shocked at how Hot Mess ended and I am trying best to come up with an awesome review for this awesome book. Written by Madeline Antonia Rosenberg, Hot Mess is a charming and enjoyable read about young love and the consequences of young love in todays society. This book was so special and it captivated me. Let me tell you, I devoured Hot Mess like I was on crack and I wanted to find out more and more. I was not disappointed at all and found myself actually thinking about this book after finishing it proving it to be so memorable to me.
Hot Mess centers around four characters, Anna(the girl who loves being in relationships), Benji(the player), Trevor(the nice guy) and Tanya(the popular girl) as they each experience the trials and tribulations of life, young love and relationships. It was so ironic because this book reminded me of the times when I was a teenager going through young love and relationships. It was so reminiscent of those days which made me smile a lot I experienced every emotion with Hot Mess. It made me laugh. It made me smile. It made me cry. It made me even fall in love with the plot. I do not normally read YA/NA but I am so glad that I gave a chance on this book because this book was just perfect. There was so much. My gosh, the drama grabbed my attention and the angst in this book caused my heart to pump a lot. My eyes were just glued to Hot Mess and my only goal was to find out what happens next. Even the cover just grabbed me. The lone girl looking at the mess in her closet reminding us that the book is truly about the mess we create in our lives. Madeline really nailed by capturing the essence of the story.
As I believe the characters make the book. You can have an awesome story but have characters that suck. Not this book because the characters each had such a dynamic and central part to the story itself which I loved. The drama between the characters was just so well written. Some characters were awesome and I loved for example Benji. I loved him. Some characters I just wanted to slap them to their senses lol like Anna and Tanya. They needed a good beating. But I loved that the author was able to capture their insecurities and vulnerabilities to give an edge to the story. Although I got confused with the shift of characters and scenes, I was able to adjust as I got into their stories.
Hot Mess is truly a fascinating story and I am so glad that I was able to read this story. It was truly an awesome journey and I cannot wait for more from Madeline Antonia Rosenberg.
