My Rating: 4 stars
I love mafia. It is one of my favourite genres because it always sweeps me away into drama and mayhem and I cannot help but just fall in love with it. It gives me the adrenaline I always crave fo all the time. Crooks and Kings was my first book by London Miller and I adored reading it. It was mayhem. It was action. It was dripping in so much drama that my eyes were so glued to it.
Crooks and Kings was a very impressive piece of writing. We all expect to see a mafia to have so much suspense and danger but not Crooks and Kings. It did have danger but there was an emotional aspect to it that was both intellectual and beautiful. It touched my soul. This story was a storm that destroys everything in its path but still leaves debris behind. Crooks and Kings definitely left an etch on my skin. There were parts I would loved to have more thriller. I needed more. But I did get the story although It as slow for me to get into it. Crooks and Kings was more than mafia but it was a story about letting go of pain. It was written well and I could all the feels in this book. I definitely enjoyed reading it.
Crooks and Kings introduced me to Mariya and Fang, a couple with so much emotion and drama between them. I loved them as individuals but I did not feel their chemistry. I needed more passion between them. I needed a connection between them. Them being together was a bit rushed in my opinion. I loved Fang. I am always drawn to the broken and flawed hero and Fang embodies broken and flawed to another level. I felt his pain. I felt his emotions. But he was a dangerous man that made me swoon. Mariya was headstrong and a bit sassy. I loved that she was survivor. She definitely complimented Fang a bit.
I will definitely be reading more books London Miller. There is something about her writing that I really like.
With a degree in Creative Writing, London Miller has turned pen to paper, creating riveting fictional worlds where the bad guys are sometimes the good guys. Her debut novel, In the Beginning, is the first in the Volkov Bratva Series.
She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and two puppies, where she drinks far too much Sprite, and spends her nights writing.
